New Years Ball

My god! This was the craziest night ever. It made every other party of 2001 seem like practice. I had no idea that a ball could be this much fun.

Preparations started early on Mon at around 9am. Paul and Mikey, arrive with 180' of white fairy lights 200' of black and white streamers and 100 black white and silver balloons. By mid afternoon they were joined by Brenda, Darren, Sarana and decorating became the order of the day. They huffed and puffed and twisted streamers for six hours. Lights were plugged in, fixtures refocused, and finally the filled balloon bag was hung up. Then after a quick change of clothing and the arrival of the rest of the staff (FYI, new years 2002 was bought to you by, Paul, Brenda, Rob, Mikey, Jen, Leric, Darren, Doug and Derreck) we waited for 9pm to open the doors. Savage was at its best, now we waited to see if people would be.

Well, we asked you all to wear your best, and you excelled. The turn out was absoloutly amazing. Outfit after stunning outfit glided into Savage through the now very pretty hallway. A stream of beautifully clad people began to pack the club by 10pm. People hit the bar hard and began to loosen up for a very memorable nights partying. The sound of the cheer at 12 was deafening, balloons cascaded from the ceiling onto the dancefloor and reality took a break as all hell broke loose. Bursting balloons, screaming, cheering club goers and the party started in earnest.

The feeling in Savage from that point on was indescribable. What followed was 4 hours of the most intense atmosphere I have ever felt in a club. My biggest fear as the Dj was that people would run out of energy. Nothing was farther from the truth. The dancefloor packed tight and you bumped, grinded, wiggled and cut loose with abandon. This was the most awe inspiring night I have ever done as a Dj, the crowd was on the same page as me and each new mix just drove the room to a higher level. There is no playlist because I found it impossible to keep one.

When 4am rolled around everyone wanted to keep going but alas all good things must come to an end. To those of you that attended, thankyou for an unforgettable evening. To those of you that didn't, pencil in Savage for New years 2003, because you really don't want to miss it again.
