Malada Fronta live My God! What an awesome night this was. Mimetic warmed
up the crowds with am amazing rhythmic noise, tech, trance set. Totally
hypnotic you just couldn't help swaying to it. Half way through his set
I started to wonder how the lead band was going to better it. The sound
was so clear, full and overwhelming. By 11.40 Savage was two thirds full
and the crowd was all waiting for one thing, Malada fronta. How was it
going to be live ?. The answer (for those that missed it) Unstoppable.
A blistering set of immense power erupted from the stage, driving the
crowds into an already packed dancefloor. People began to sway, dance,
freak out to his sound. The moment came and xp33 (the now well known club
hit) began to slide out of the thumping bass bins. The crowd lost it.
I have never experienced a night like this before. It is the first time
I have understood the full potential of rhythmic noise. Just like the
crowds Sunday I now find I can't get enough. Toronto's best and brightest
turned out and the room was filled with the names and faces that make
up the Toronto industrial scene. The list read like a turn out of who's
who (just take a look at the pictures). Between the bands, the crowd,
the space and the sound it has to be one of the most amazing nights Savage
has experienced yet. But its not stopping here. there's much more to come.
Mlada have achieved success from the start with the undeniable club hit
(anthem even) XB-33, which can be heard at almost every club night. In
2002, Mlada Fronta branched out and started their own label Parametric,
and have since released their latest Mlada album, a Mimetic album and
a brilliant 3-CD compilation entitled qfg. Mimetic started his career with albums of a very experimental/electronica
nature, leading up to his current release which leaves this sound behind
for more flowing techno-ish sounds, some trance and a definitely EBM-influenced
sound making rhythmic, dancey, powerful tracks. Mimetic is anything but
just another rhythmic noise band, offering a hybrid sound to bridge EBM
and more interesting orchestral dark atmospheric and technoid sounds.
